Sadly Easter falls before our essential stalls can re-open but don't worry there is still and abundance of sweet and savoury goodies available. Chocolate, fudge, pastry, cakes (including vegan), eggs, fruit and veg, beers, wines and much much more The market is open on Good Friday and Easter Saturday from 8.00am until 3.30pm. If you know what you want why not order in advance and just 'click and collect'!!!

Newport Indoor Market now stock most products needed by celiacs who require foods prepared in a gluten free environment. Kerry Flavell at Newport Indoor Market started her stall some two years ago because two members of her family suffer from Celiac disease where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine. Kerry has plenty of experience when it comes to providing tasty meals for those with a gluten intolerance. For advice and product information contact Kerry who is in the market on Fridays and Saturdays from 8am until 3.30pm

Our lovely Gill Perry (Gill’s Fish) went on a night out when she was 17 with her best friend, a few drinks later and on the way home they met two boys at the bus stop and arranged to meet them the following week! Gill didn’t go and as it turned out her date, John (who was 16), didn’t turn up either!

This week we are profiling Anita Jackson from The Emporium of the Useful and Curious . Anita's talented family business creates unique and bespoke items from reclaimed timber and metal. Along with recycling end of life items into useful objects. Anita also sells lovely smelly bath products, paintings, homemade jams, and a great selection of greeting cards.

This month sees the retirement of Colin Kirkby who has been caretaker at Newport Indoor Market for some 20 years. The stallholders recently presented Colin with a garden planter and a watercolour of the old Town Hall building where the market is based. The regulars look forward to seeing Colin and his wife Pam visiting the market from time to time, as customers

This week we interviewed Nathan from Margaret's Farm. Nathan really 'knows his stuff' when it comes to home smoked and cured foods and with his background as a chef certainly gives him a breath of knowledge.

This weeks stallholder feature is Paul Webb from Malcolm Wickstead Butchers. Paul has been a butcher since the tender age of 11. He describes himself as: 'As mad as a box of frogs!'

Sonia Nicholls-Burnhill runs the Antiques and Collectables stall in Newport Indoor Market and has a vast array of pre-loved antiques and collectables on her stall. She hopes that there is something for everyone, whether that be a pretty vase or a cute teddy bear for the children.

Meet Jo Bentham of Making A Difference. Jo manages the stall along with her volunteers on behalf of the Churches Together in Newport. Jo is a Teacher of Economics and Business at Haberdashers' Adams Grammar School in Newport.

Meet Jo from 'One more Chocolate'. Jo was looking for something to occupy her time whilst working abroad and randomly bought a book on how to make chocolates. She enjoyed making them so much that after attending a couple of courses she decided to use her chocolate making skills to start a business.
