With two new additions to the Indoor Market in Newport the Manager of the Market was pleased to report a lively atmosphere last Friday and Saturday.  Considering it is still February the stallholders in the market have been noticing a steady increase in activity since January and with Moydens Artisan Cheese and Fudgeways new to the market this week Newport folks were keen to support the new traders.
The recently upgraded fruit and veg stall, Box of Goodness, also saw an increase in customers who were pleased see a wider range of produce again.
Both butchers, Wicksteads and Walkers, had a tremendous trade in meat and poultry and Gill's fish stall was as busy as ever. Ladybirds cafe on the gallery found themselves busier than usual with their delicious value for money meals and drinks. Flowers always sell well on 14th February and Jenny's Plants did a roaring trade especially with her lovely spring bulbs.
So - was love in the air?  Who knows?  What we DO know is that the people of Newport are supporting local trade and the stallholders are delighted.  Speaking to one new shopper in the market we had the following feedback -  ''I didn't know this gem of a market existed.  I am new to the town and have just bought all of my weekly supply of meat, fruit and veg from here and a homemade Victoria sandwich from the country markets'.  I will definitely be back next week'

Newport Indoor Market is open EVERY Friday and Saturday from 8.00am until 3.30pm.  For further information contact newportmarketcompany@btconnect.com
